Vicki is joined by stellar colleagues, warm friends and pillars of the early music field John Holloway on violin, and Jaap ter Linden on cello and viola da gamba. Lars Ulrik Mortensen’s harpsichord playing is jaw-dropping awesome, and the late Aloysia Assenbaum graces this album with her elegant and tasteful organ continuo. Oh, and this guy, Telemann, really knew how to write. He even says in his autobiography that he’s the most proud of his trio sonatas! No kiddin’!

When you hear this CD you’ll understand why this style is Vicki’s favorite repertoire. Dramatic, colorful, whimsical and emotionally engaging sonatas by hot-blooded Italians Dario Castello, Giovanni Fontana, Giovanni Cima, Girolamo Frescobaldi and Tarquinio Merula.

Vicki’s maiden CD, recorded just after she completed her studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Copenhagen. Not bad for a novice…wink!

Standard Baroque fare tastefully played by the Danish- based quartet, Opus 4. Enjoy trio sonatas by Handel, Telemann and Merula The continuo is played on lute, which sheds new light and adds a certain delicacy to these otherwise well-known pieces.

Trio Sonatas, quartets and quintets  by G.P Telemann, JJ Quantz and
J.B. Loeillet
Opus 4 and friends.

Trio Sonatas by some of the best composers of the Baroque era, Telemann, Handel, Sammartini.
Opus 4

Indeed a musical journey through the ages with works spanning 800 years. Wood'N'Flutes plays beautiful ballata by Machaut and Dufay, madrigals from the Danish Court of King Chr. IV by Mogens Pedersøn and Truid Aagesen, a fun T'andernaken by Henry the VIIIth, and cool trios by Johann Mattheson, Louis Antione Dornel, Matthias Maute and Willem Wander van Nieuwkerk.

Vicki and Dorte Lester Nauta liberate themselves of the continuo players from Opus 4 to present some of their favorite duets. They play some early works by John Baldwine, Thomas Morley, Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Gastoldi and van Eyck along with later Baroque duets by Telemann and Hotteterre le Romain.

A fascinating album of contemporary works by Danish composers, recorded for the first time. Hans Abrahamsen's Flowersongs, Ole Buck's Estampie, Two Trios by Ib Nørholm, Fløjteskove by Morten Nyord, and the lovely Color Blue by Hans Henrik Brandt. Wood'N'Flutes is also joined by stellar colleague Karina Agerbo in Leif Kayser's quartet Divertimento II.
...The Woodworks album opens the listeners ears for the recorder’s unknown spectrum of sound possibilities, and it is a memorable experience. (Flensborg Avis, Germany)
